You COULD consider this as blending in a sense, however, you don’t want to rely on anti-aliasing for blending, it will never be enough to give a good effect and look of blending. That is anti-aliasing, it’s there to give the strokes more of a natural look. Anyway, if you notice the edges of the strokes, where the colour becomes less solid and just sort of fades out into the background. Ok, so here’s an example of anti-aliasing, this example was done with pen brush, all brushes in SAI, except the Binary of course, even the Select brushes, have anti-aliasing, this was just the best one to choose to show.
